As We Are (2022)
“The Spirit House is a place where Black people around CMU campus can feel at home and the reason we chose it as the location of the photoshoot is because we are able to feel 100% comfortable. It was also the first place we thought of when we were asked where we think the location of the photoshoot should be.”

“When Evangeline asked me to pick a location that was near and dear to my heart I knew the location right away. It’s the place where I fell in love, it was a place where I got my heart broken and it’s also a place where I started my business selling vintage clothing. This location was integral in my journey into womanhood and it’s also very fitting that I’m photographed wearing a wedding dress perched as if I’m sitting on a throne in my queendom. It was a perfect culmination to my time here in Pittsburgh. Forever grateful!”

“The reason why I chose the back porch of my Dad’s house is because of its significance. Imagine it, sitting out back on a nice summer day. Listening to music with your family, the grill going, and watching your little one run around in the grass without a care in the world. Those are the moments you cherish. Making memories, admiring the people who love and value your presence.”

“The original location was meant to be a bus stop, but due to weather the location was changed. Nonetheless a parking garage also has a similar sentiment to me. Since embracing my creative passions, much of my life began to involve moving around and being outside of the home. While for me, a bus stop relates more to that busyness and movement of life, a parking garage more so represents stopping and resting from the constant motion. Both sides, I feel, compliment each other and are aspects of my life that I appreciate!”
